Orbital Air Assisted Direct Injection systems have been in development since early 1980’s for 2 and 4 stroke engines
This direct injection and combustion system enables a highly stratified combustion process leading to significant fuel economy/range improvements and emissions control for 2 and 4 stroke engines
The characteristics of the Orbital system can allow spark ignition (SI) engine operation with Kerosene type fuels
(ie Jet A, Jet A-1,JP8, JP5)
This system is already in high volume production on a number of products in the Marine and Recreation and Motorcycle markets
Orbital has teamed up with Goebler-Hirth Motoren to develop a heavy fuel engine solution for the UAV market.
